Reducing or offsetting emissions
EnergyAustralia is also committed to supporting customers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and offsetting production of greenhouse gas emissions in a variety of other ways.
We achieved the highest abatements and offsets of greenhouse gas emissions of all retailers under the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme, and we have been a proud member of the Greenhouse Challenge (now Greenhouse Challenge Plus) since 1997.
The Greenhouse Challenge, run by the Australian Greenhouse Office, encompasses reducing emissions from electricity infrastructure, buildings, fleet and end-use waste. EnergyAustralia has established procedures and recorded greenhouse emissions and strived to meet self imposed targets for operating our business since 1997.
